How To Start A Healthy & Fabulous Lifestyle In Under 30 Days

In 2015 I decided to take a much needed time out from the world to get back to the centre of ME. I created my first ever month long Zenning Out Project™ Retreat, coined “Zencation™”. I was coming out of a really tough phase in my life; got through a really difficult financial pitfall, walked away from one of the most stressful organizations I’ve ever had to work for and I was in the process of watching the universe take, what I thought at the time was a really close friend out of my life. It’s always super hard to deal with losing people you thought would be in your life up until the end of your lifetime, but the universe always knows best. I took those life disappointments really hard, harder than I thought I would have. I found that the smallest things would set me off. Even Facebook started to get right under my skin. I was using it to seek validation and If I didn’t get it, I would get hurt. This madness went on until I was able to pull the plug on Facebook so I could regain my sanity. I was feeling so disconnected, sad and sorry for myself, that it even started to affect my health. At the time, I couldn’t figure out why it was all happening to me, but there was a good reason (there’s always a good reason). The reason was that I was super unhappy with where I was in my life and it was time to make some real change.

So, I decided to start my very first “Zencation™”! I was determined to create a healthy and fabulous lifestyle in under 30 days

You too can create your very own “Zencation™” weekend wellness retreat, at home or wherever else you see fit.

How to create your very own “Zencation weekend wellness retreat

I suggest that you plan to set aside your Saturday and/or your Sunday if you are truly serious about committing your mind, body and soul to achieving wellness.

Pick the exact days and times that you would like to set aside to conduct your own, at home wellness retreat. Then, sit your friends and family members down and let them know that you will be unavailable to communicate in any capacity during your time off. Explain to them in detail, why you’ve decided to do this and invite them to follow suit if they feel the need to balance their mind, body and soul.

It’s best to commit to a day or a few days to start. A very important tidbit to remember is, you must commit to being totally and completely alone during your “Zencation™” time in order for it to really take effect and work in your life.

Things you’ll need for your “Zencation™”

 

1. Food
Have on hand some assortments of fruits and veggies so you can make some quick and yummy veggie meals. Your goal here is to limit the use of electricity, so no cooking on the stove. This way, you’re sure to enhance your mental connection to your Divine.

 

2. Water
Drink a lot of water. Water helps to purify your body, mind and soul while flushing out any toxins and impurities you’ve picked up along the way. Water is also very cleansing to the mind.

 

3. Sleep
I suggest that you dedicate a minimum of eight hours to your sleep. Pick a bedtime and a wake-up time and stick to it throughout your “Zencation”. If you go to bed at 9:00 p.m. then you will wake at 5a.m.

 

4. Meditation
If you don’t have one already, I suggest that you create a relaxing and tranquil meditation/ thinking space in a room in your house. This way, you’ll be able to spend all your free time in that space thinking or meditating. You can also place a pen and a blank notebook in the space to jot down ideas and thoughts as they come.
Your meditation should start at 5:30 a.m. every morning, this is the best time to meditate because the veil is thinner and you can have a deeper connection with the energy that is the Divine. During this time it’s easier for you to hear what’s being communicated to you.

 

6. Device Free
ALL electrical devices, (yes TV and Cell phone are included) should be turned off for the entire duration of your “Zencation™”. You will receive great mental benefits from eliminating any outside interruptions and connections while you are connecting your heart, mind and soul back to the Divine. If you’re doing this during a time of the year, that’s super cold, I highly suggest that you keep your heat on. We can’t have you freezing your buns off, we want you to be comfortable and safe.

 

5. Exercise
Get out and hit the pavement – get in a good run, rollerblade, hike or bike ride each day. It really doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you take the time to give your body some heart pumping love. A healthy heart gives birth to a healthy lifestyle to make sure you’re living healthy life overall.

 

6. Self Care
Do the things that will allow you to get back in touch with the mind, body, and soul. Things such as running yourself a calming bubble bath, lighting some soothing candles, burning some incense while you soak in your bath for as long as you feel fit. The only things you are allowed to bring into the bathroom is, yourself and the energetic connection that is the Divine… That’s IT!

 

7. Positive Mind
Invest in positive, uplifting and encouraging mental chatter when you are forced to sit with yourself. It can be quite easy to listen to the negative mental chatter because that’s what we’re so used to hearing in our mind on a day-to-day base, but it’s not our truth and the only way to break the unhealthy pattern is to introduce new thought patterns and behaviours.
Some great examples of positive mental chatter are, “I am not alone”, “Life loves me”, “I get back what I put out into the world”, “My life is blessed beyond words”.

 

 

8. Be In Nature
Get outside each day to take in all the free natural beauty we have available to us. Go spy on the awesome birds, rabbits, butterflies, you name it – it’s all available to us to indulge in and enjoy. Do you know what else is awesome to be around? Water, trees and plants! It’s beyond me why we don’t take more pleasure in what the Divine has given to us, to freely enjoy.

 

9. Help with Kids
Ask a supportive family member or friend to help you out with watching your child/children for the allotted time you’ve chosen to invest in your “Zencation™”. You can also offer to do the same favour for them when and if they choose to take part in this soul freeing and rejuvenating exercise.
