3 Reasons You Should Use Video In Your Marketing

Hi Spiritual Entrepreneurs,

If you are a business owner, this post is definitely for you. There are 3 reasons you should use  video in your marketing messaging.

Remember this groundbreaking song by The Buggles, Video Killed The Radio Star?

Video might have killed the radio star, but I promise you it won’t kill the internet star! At least not right now.

The phrase, Video Killed The Radio Star was on everyone’s lips during the 1980’s even if they didn’t want it there, there it was… kinda like Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ and Rihanna’s ‘Work’.

If you’re trying to get a strong brand message out to your audience, you MUST jump on-board and start implementing and combining videos into your written copy.

This way, you are putting out stronger branding messages to reap more benefits with adding videos to your messaging.

Here’s the thing, our attention spans are so fickle, we literally only have 3 seconds, yes! You heard me correctly 3 seconds!! To get our message out to our audience before they lose interest and go elsewhere. This is why we must use those precious 3
seconds in a clever way to get our message across because once we’ve lost them, they’re gone for good.

Not to mention the broad reach we all now have with globalization, diversity and the power of millennials, etc. so it shouldn’t shock you to hear this doozy being tossed around, Video is NOW king!!

If you don’t have any content to offer your audience in the form of videos, then you’re barking up the wrong tree and you’re really missing out on a large part of the market that’s attracted and captivated by videos. By 2020 it’s estimated that 100% of the world’s population will be online.

I Recommend that you access your content and restructure your messaging into videos – you don’t have to convert all your copy to video, but you should have a healthy offering to supply to your clients/fans/followers and so forth.

3 powerful reasons why you should start using video in your messaging

1

It’s The Greatest Storytelling Medium
With moving images we are able to see and understand the ‘story’, which allows us to connect emotionally with a brand and its message. Stories allow us to have a structured understanding around what the brand is trying to tell us. It also tells us what the product or service benefits are and what we can gain from using them.

2
Create Trust and A Strong Connection With Your Audience
When your audience is able to see you, they are better able to trust your authenticity and the message you are sharing with them. Given that 90% of communication is nonverbal. When we add videos or rather, moving pictures to our written messages, we easily add an additional layer of connectivity, trust and understanding between the message and the audience. Tests have shown that, a few days after we hear a message we only remember 10% of it, but when we add visuals/video to the message, we remember 65% more of the content we saw.

Easy to Use
Our current reality is, video is literally everywhere! And it’s not going away anytime soon. Social sites like Periscope, MeerKat, YouTube and Facebook are creating apps to make it easy for us to use video to reach our intended audience. We can now create worthy videos in minutes and broadcast them ‘live’ to our intended audience when we like and from wherever we like. Just don’t broadcast from your bathroom… I really don’t want to see you do your business live on video. 🙂 The really cool and convenient benefit of live video’s is, we can record right from our smartphones, tablets and/or our computers and interact right away with our viewers.

Now, I have a challenge for you – use this weekend to create a short intro video (3 minutes max) telling us about what you do and what you offer. After you’re all done recording, post it to your Facebook page, then come back here and post your video link in the comment section below. This way, we can show you support by watching, liking and commenting on your videos.

Happy Filming!

I love videos for the very reasons you outlined. I am so not technically inclined and doing them alone is so tough for me. I have a YT channel with at least 10 videos but I don’t have the desire to do more.

It is so challenging at times to dive back into video creation when we’ve taken a break away from them. I am just starting back up with developing videos again. How about we make a pact to create at least one video every month. Are you in? If you’re not, then I would suggest that you find a medium that speaks to your heart and that you wouldn’t mind working at and presenting to the world with very little effort. XX 🙂

This was a great reminder! I know how much I am attracted to videos as consumer so I can only guess the same is true for my own audience. I have a similar problem as Melissa but I need to make it work! Now I just have to remember to do it! Thank you for the post!

      Hi Katie,

You are very welcome! I’ll share with you the same info I shared with Melissa and that’s to invest in a tripod and a selfie stick. Your tripod can be a small desktop mountable version if you don’t want to invest in a big one.

Next, pick a day and time to film and write it down in your day planner. You can even go as far as telling your network and/or your family to look out for your first video. Give them a date and time also. This way, they can hold you accountable to deliver and you can hold yourself to follow through on your word. 🙂

Let me know when you post your video’s so I can show you some love and support.

      Have a wonderful evening Goddess!

      Sending you tons of love,

      Kerry

      XO

    HI, Kerry-Ann.

Timely post, especially for me. I have been wanting to upload video for quite a while now. I always put it off. It’s probably because I feel I want to be out and about in the video and I have no one to help me with holding the phone, etc.

I will use this weekend to, at least, record intro videos for both my blogs, so that I can share them on FB and here.

    Thanks for this reminder.

    Melissa

      Hi Melissa,

You are very welcome! I have a suggestion that will help you when you don’t have anyone to hold your camera or phone. Invest in a tripod and a selfie stick. You’ll be able to film on your own when you need to. These two items really enhanced my entrepreneurial life tremendously. When you post your video’s, please let me know so I can support your work.

      Have a blessed evening Goddess!

      Kerry
      XO
